"Legacy" By The Hand
History Exhibit
Together with the help of the Chicago
History Museum and the Benjamin B. Green-Field
Foundation, By The Hand created a new
exhibit honoring 150 Chicagoans who have made
a difference in the lives of young people-mind,
body and soul. The exhibit, entitled "Legacy,"
was unveiled at the Chicago History Museum for
the 2nd Annual Spring Benefit on April 26.
The list of extraordinary Chicagoans includes
Marilyn Eisenberg who helped found the Chicago
Children's Museum, Jane Adams who started Hull
House and Dwight Moody who founded Moody Bible
Institute and The Moody Church. For each Chicagoan
featured, a personal account from a child tells
why the leader brings him or her hope and inspiration.
After learning about Gwendolyn Brooks, Jamaria,
age 12, says, "She reminds of me of myself because
I love writing. Ms. Brooks encourages me to
write."
Following the benefit, thousands of Chicagoans
will view the exhibit in seven Chicago Public
schools, libraries and other places through
out Chicago.
